Parents please check your child's chromebook this evening. There are many student accounts that are being flagged in our monitoring system due to downloading of games, videos, changing search engines, etc. that are not school related. Students were told today, that these had better be removed from the Chromebook and Google restored as the search engines today or the Chromebook will be taken as these are school owned devices. It has also been reported that some older students are turning their hotspots on from their phones so that others can download games and items. If you have questions feel free to contact the office at 417-776-2425

Good Afternoon Westview Families! I hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving holiday. Tomorrow will be our 1st Virtual Learning Day. There could be some glitches tomorrow as we learn in a new way. So how do you begin? Each student will need to follow the virtual schedule your child's teacher sent out. ALL Students know their log ins and how to get to their teacher's site. ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN tomorrow and all work will need to be completed according to the teacher's guidelines. If you have questions, please contact your child's teacher via email, google message, or on their google voice phone number they provided at the beginning of the year (It can also be found on www.wc6.org - staff link. You can also find the link to your child's teacher's classroom at this page as well.) If you do not have internet at home, families are also welcome to come to the school parking lot to log into the school internet. You can also connect using the internet on your phone. If you have any questions or problems tomorrow, please contact your teacher.

Westview Families and Westview Team, We were notified today that a student at Westview School has tested positive for COVID-19. Our thoughts are with this individual as they navigate this illness, and we wish them an easy and quick recovery. Our goal in sending out this notification is to be as transparent as possible in providing information to our families and employees need in order to remain as healthy as possible during this uncertain time. When new confirmed cases arise, expect an email communication like this one at the end of the day. Please remember that due to privacy laws the school cannot give out specific, identifying information. At the direction of the Health Department, all students and employees who were exposed to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 have been individually contacted. In this case, 7 close IN-SCHOOL contacts have been identified. Contacts that are determined to have been exposed OUTSIDE of school will be notified by the health department personally. If your child was NOT DIRECTLY EXPOSED, you would not be contacted. For example, here are a couple scenarios: Scenario 1: A student/teacher in your child’s class has tested positive for COVID. After Newton County, administration, and school nurse has completed contact tracing your child was not listed as a person that needs to be isolated even though they are in the same class. The reason is, your child/teacher did not sit by this student, did not interact during the day with the student/teacher for more than 15 minutes without a layer of protections or was 6 feet away. Scenario 2: A student/teacher in your child’s class is a family member (i.e big/little sister/brother, cousin) of a student who tested positive in another class. The family member of the student who tested positive would be considered a secondary contact and no isolation is required for your child as they did not have direct contact with the student who is positive. As a reminder, we would like to share the following information in regards to what steps we can all take to help reduce the spread of COVID-19: -Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and report any to your student’s doctor and school. -If an employee or student has been directly exposed to someone positive for COVID-19, please report that to your school. -When social distancing is not possible, wear a mask or face covering unless a medical condition does not allow for it. -Wash your hands and sanitize frequently. -Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for updates about COVID-19. Thank you for helping us keep each other and the school year safe!

Starting Monday, November 23rd we will begin our weeklong Thanksgiving Break! On Monday, November 30th, Monday, December 7th, and Monday, December 14th students will be attending school VIRTUALLY. Your child's teachers sent out information how these days will work earlier in the year but if you have any questions feel free to email or call your child's teacher. Students will have IN PERSON instruction as planned the other days of the week. The elementary Christmas Program will still be held on Monday, December 14th at 6 PM. By making these Monday's VIRTUAL days it will allow teachers, students, and parents to work out kinks so that if we do have to close again for an extended period, students will be able to continue their education without a hiccup.

We need your help! We are having a lot of students coming to school AFTER 7:50 and NOT PICKED UP from school. Students need to be at school BEFORE 7:50 in order to get a FREE Breakfast. At 7:51 students are tardy and breakfast is put up for the day, so that the kitchen staff can start on lunch. 4 Tardies each 1 day of being counted as an unexcused absence. School is out at 3:30 each day. The buses pull out of the parking lot at that time and we begin loading all parent pick up students. If parents/pick up person is in line, we are able to have all students gone within 8 to 10 minutes. Some students are not being picked up until MUCH Later. This is just a reminder, that staff are available to supervise your child from 7:40 until 3:40, so please plan to be in line to pick your child up at 3:30! Thank you for your help!
